Excerpt: Jobs that don’t yet exist Click here for the tl:dr video interviews That’s the phrase some people like to use as shorthand for ‘The Future’ in education. It often prefaces a justification for moving schooling away from more traditional “knowledge based” models to increasingly progressive ideals where soft skills, personalisation and project based learning hold sway. Traditionalists would counter as Andrew Smith did in his blog 1 on the subject that this is a myth and even if true in some cases, the jobs aren’t that many and there are many traditional jobs that are not going away any time soon. However…

Excerpt: This week’s blog is a bit different. On 22nd October 2015 I travelled up to Cambridge to interview Ian Rawes about his work for the The London Sound Survey. As you may know I use part of the money I make working for commercial firms and charities to sponsor projects like this myself – however some costs are too expensive to build in no matter how much pro bono work you do. So if any educational firm, publication (or individual) fancies paying to have all or some…

Excerpt: I went down to the first Research Ed Tech conference at the London Connected Learning Centre in Clapham, South London to interview most of the presenters about their talks on Saturday 17th October 2015. I used Periscope for the interviews but didn’t quite get the quality of audio I wanted but I was able to work out what needed doing next time to get better results. I was trialling new kit; I always test out new equipment in ‘real world’ situations as well as my studio. The challenges are interesting and you always learn something. The thing I learned today…
