Excerpt: I have been working on a small, home mini-studio for video recording for some years now. I want to be able to establish a monthly current affairs education channel but a lot of obstacles have got in the way over the last few months. Here is one of the last tests I’m doing before launch in a few weeks. All the equipment I’m using – the teleprompter and other gear I’ll highlight in future videos but for now I’m happy to go ahead. All that’s left is to write the scripts. I will be live streaming these recorded sessions on a regular…

Excerpt: I have been heavily involved in launching a new “general” podcast for UK education. It’s called theEDFiles and you can listen to it in the player below. I’m co-hosting this with my colleague Alex Weatherall – a science teacher from York. So far we’ve had over 300 downloads in 24 hours so it seems to be hit with the education community. Each show will be themed and will include education, news, views, reviews and interviews with key people in education. Give it a listen – it’s perfect if you are commuting to work or are involved in menial tasks or even…

I have an expensive copy of WireCast but I am really waiting for the new MacBook Pros to come out so I can use it in a more portable environment. This setup enables me to have the ability to stream out a very high quality camera and audio for interviews and coverage of events. I can switch in videos…

Excerpt: In 1994, 22 years ago, my son was born; that year also coincided with the stirrings of the World Wide Web. In those dark days of the mid 90’s – I had only 1 day off for my son’s birth – the day of the birth. It was a home delivery. I remember it well; I spent the morning duck taping plastic sheeting to the floor; it was needed as was the bucket for the placenta. I helped deliver him and cut the cord. The school had Ofsted that day and I had a wry smile knowing what I’d…

Excerpt: Whilst discussing VR and 360 photos / videos on Twitter I got a response from Andy Lewis: @eyebeams @HFletcherWood @miss_mcinerney @nickhassey @htsi @TheFutureCritic I think visiting places of pilgrimage in RE would be excellent.— Andy Lewis (@iTeachRE) September 3, 2016 Well – here’s a quick example of a panorama I took with the DMD Panorama App on an iPhone – it took just a few seconds to take the pic and upload it to the allied App site. And this is an example of the stitched photo uploaded to ThingLink and overlaid with multimedia elements – just pass your cursor over the…
